There’s been a lot of talk about remote companies in the past few years. People have been listing the benefits of having a remote workforce, the downsides, and so on. Workers are moving to companies who will provide them this kind of flexibility, at least occasionally. Working moms, single parents, and digital nomads are particularly fond of this lifestyle.

Turning your team into a remote one isn’t easy, and managing it is even harder than it seems. Yet, so many companies are doing it! And not only that they’re going remote, they’re maintaining the quality level of service, products, marketing, and all other business areas.

So, How Do They Do It?

We wanted to know, which is exactly why we decided to investigate this. A couple of months ago we organized a State of Remote Companies survey. We reached out to 700 different remote companies, and we received responses from 154.

Thanks to this research we were able to find out the answers to some of the most common questions about remote companies:

  • What are their biggest challenges?
  • Which tools do they use on a daily basis?
  • How do they manage to keep projects on schedule?

These are just some of the questions we asked, and you can see the rest of them here.

How Can You Keep Up?

Staying competitive just keeps getting harder. And now, when the option of remote work has been added to the mix, many companies are wondering how to create a remote team? How do you manage them? Where to hire people who would work remotely? How to pay them? Should you pay to bring them to the office? Or organize regular company-wide gatherings?

There are many more questions, and it’s impossible to answer all of them right away, but we gave it a go anyways.

Lead by our own remote experience, and thanks to the help of some wonderful people who lead remote teams, we were able to create The Ultimate Guide to Creating and Managing a Remote Team.
